Nueva Piezas
The subject of the studio was a 2 km long radical linear structure placed in the new developing neighbourhood L’Hospitalet de Llobregat in Barcelon. The seperate projects should have connections on different levels that allow the movement through the whole length of the structure.

Concept
The concept of city within the city occurs in the EC as the infrastructure provides culture, work and meeting functions. The footprint from the residential towers is minimized to a supporting development core so that more open space can be created for the urban citizens. Between the incubators and the development cores, plazas are created with seating to cafes and restaurants. The movement in axes is broken in the structure by the location of the volumes, and so one moves more naturally in the flowing space between them.
After thorough research and experimentation, I have found that the dispersion of the massive structure into smaller tower-like volumes allows much more light to the individual apartments as well as beautiful views of the surroundings for each inhabitant. The project mixes living, working and communal functions that are vertically positioned in different ways. The green open spaces, which are on different floors in each tower, are connected with a corridor. This corridor makes the whole project walkable and thus experienceable by residents and passers-by.
Apartment concept
he floor plan concept of the apartment arises from the central location of the elevator and the division of the space into 8 parts. The size of the room parts depends on their function. The wet room and kitchen are kept small. The living room, dining room and bedroom are extruded with 1.5 meters to the outside to gain more space. The extruded parts of the apartment below form the terraces of the apartment above. This creates a very functional spatial concept with 3 open spaces in 3 different directions.
Variations
There are 3 different types apartments for different groups of users. The configuration and size of the apartment is adapted to the needs of the specific user group. The first 2 options involve 2 apartments per floor, whereas the second is a singular apartment for a bigger family spread on a singular floor.
